What an interesting day. I’ve got no beefs with the my fellow commuters, well maybe one. Hey idiot riding slowly behind the jackass bicyclists riding three abreast in Roger Williams Park, “Yes, it’s ok to go around them, and yes, you can get as close as possible because they’re taking up 3/4 of the lane.”

I went out for lunch today with a friend. As we’re walking across the parking lot to his car (even though he could have ridden today, it was so nice) for the ride back to campus, we both spot a Triumph Tiger 800 XC. Naturally we gravitate towards it, discussing tires and skid plates. I guess we hung around a bit too long because this guy comes out of the Indian restaurant, in front of which the bike is parked.

After hellos and handshakes, it turns into what other bikes, riding in the winter, heated gear, forest roads, camping in northern Vermont — you know, the typical biker conversation. However, I wasn’t really part of it. And I’m not used to that. I’m really lucky to have the guys I ride with, and today made me appreciate that. Even if some of them are complete dickwads.
